Congratulations to the winner of the esteemed Citizen of the Year award for 2006 – Edward "Doc" Forkel.
"Doc" is a true example of what it is to be a Citizen of the Year. He has given to the community for 5 decades! From being on the school board district 113A for 24 years, Officer and coach of Lemont Little League for 10 years, Sunday school teacher, youth counselor and Vice Chairman of the Board of Deacons for Bethany Lutheran, President of the Senior Citizen Association for past 7 years, served as the Lemont Township as Clerk fro 1981-2005 and now has recently been appointed as Township trustee continuing his years of service to the citizens of Lemont township.
