We are trying to keep the shoe box cooler whilst it is placed in the sun. We need to test 2-3 aspects of Passive Solar Design. We are trying to save energy by trying to figure out the best ways to keep a house cool instead of just using an air conditioner.

What are some good insulators?

What are some of the Passive Solar Design Elements that I can test?

How Can I keep my shoebox house cooler?

What is window tinting and how does that work?

All help is welcome and appreciated. Thank you for your answers, this is urgent.

Small, high windows; shade trees; wide overhangs and .

Thermal chimneys and plenums are good too, but I don’t know how you’d demonstrate them with a shoebox.

Window tinting is simply making the glass of a window darker to limit the sunlight that passes through it.

If you want to be really technical.
Access your city’s climate data website. Find out what direction ‘cool’ Summer breezes travel in most frequently, during your analysed period.
You can then open the part of your house which harnesses this wind, and cools the entire shoebox passively.
This opening, can be represented as Bifold doors.
Goodluck, especially with the stats.
Not sure if its relatable with ur project.. but in a real situation, its a gd alternative to the others listed.
